Karnataka (India) submits a proposal for a textile park to the central government

Karnataka, one of India's top textile and apparel states, has expressed strong interest in establishing giant textile parks in the state. The State Government has made a request to build up more than one textile park in the state, but the Centre has not yet reacted, according to Pankaj Kumar Pandey,
Karnataka Principal Secretary in the department of handloom and textiles. Seven parks would be built throughout the country over the next three years under the planned Mega Investment Textiles Parks (MITRA) project.
UP Singh, Secretary, Government of India, Textiles, who was in Bengaluru to meet with textile industry executives and inform them about the various incentives given by the Centre to companies looking to grow their company, indicated that Karnataka is interested in establishing a giant textile park.
He stated that no decision has been made on any of the suggestions thus far because the project is still in its early stages. The Secretary also attended the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bengaluru's 2021 Convocation Ceremony.
“Karnataka is one of India's top garment manufacturing hubs,” he added. We encouraged the entrepreneurs here to take advantage of the five-year incentives offered by the Indian government for the textile industry.”
The parks will only be built in states that meet specific criteria, such as 1,000 acres, investor-friendly laws, strong connectivity through road, rail, and port, and reliable water and electricity supply, according to the Secretary.
