A brand named Zindagi has been conceived and launched by a Honduras-born entrepreneur María José Padgett. This is a line of off-the-shoulder dresses, patterned chanderi silk blouses, swingy cotton tops, traditional Indian ear rings, bangles and rings.
Padgett was inspired by the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. She felt the title, which means life doesn’t repeat itself, was perfect, since her pieces are also one-of-a-kind.Over time, she immersed myself in the history, designs, and production process of Indian jewelry, and in 2017 launched her first jewelry collection as well as her first apparel line.
The pieces are made in various locations in India. When an idea comes to her mind she sketches it and saves it for her next trip. Once she arrives, she immediately heads to the studio to meet with the team and start working.
She first visited India in 2014 and attended a fashion week where she fell in love with the intricacies of Indian fashion and everything it represents. A couple of days later, she went to a market in New Delhi and bought her very first pair of traditional earrings, the likes of which she had never seen in her native country Honduras.
