Varuna, an Indian luxury label plans to broaden its reach and enter the wholesale market. Women’s Wear Daily reveals, the brand has booked space in the Milan-based hotel Diana where it aims to showcase Spring 2021 collection. The collection offers luxurious separates in solid colors with fine detailing and embellishment. Swirling black embroidery on a sheer white organza trench; subtle fringing on the edges of a cashmere sweater coat, and cape-like details on long cashmere dresses will be on display.
The collection made from South Asian textiles features handwork and techniques from craftspeople from across India. Varuna also relies on Himalayan cashmere knitters; Rajasthani wood-block printers and traditional weavers of handloom khadi cloth for designing its collections. Its design team works from the company’s atelier in Bengaluru.
Varana was founded in 2016 by the Bengaluru-based Sujata Keshavan, a graphic designer, branding specialist and founder of the design firm Ray + Keshavan. A year later, the brand opened a store on the Dover Street in London’s Mayfair.
