The Assam edition of the third North East India Fashion Week, will take place in Guwahati on August 26. Introducing the edition, the organizers Affluent Ray of Light said this season would be bigger, and showcase some of the best talents from the industry. The Assam edition named ‘The Khadi Movement’ will give an insight on what is in store at the three-day fashion extravaganza in Itanagar. The event is conceptualized to inspire and encourage budding handicraft artisans and designers of the region who are working exclusively towards the promotion of Northeast fabrics and culture.
It will witness the participation of over 50 designers and indigenous weavers including Ratan Yak, Hibu Ollo, Nabam Chunkap, Angie Ngoba Chakpu, Anju Hazarika, Uday Kherkatary, Rupert Lynrah, Laltha Biki, Gloria Ovung, Menty Jamir and more.
Jack Taniya Budh, COO for the Assam edition says a designer’s instinct grasps and creates the best of his\her surroundings into an artistic expression by weaving the stories of nature, comes from a deep understanding and passion of a creative relationship. The NEIFW is a movement to provide a congressional platform to tell the stories of nature and connect the world through tale-telling clothes and creations.
