Wacoal targets setting up 30-40 stores in India by 2019

Japanese lingerie brand Wacoal plans to set up 30 t6 40 EBOs across all metros by 2019. The brand, present in India through Bagzone Lifestyles, has 10 exclusive stores across all major cities. As of now, the stores are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai. Wacoal enjoys almost 80 per cent conversion rate in India.

Founded in 1949 in Japan, Wacoal makes women's lingerie and underwear. The company has divisions in North America and Europe, and manufactures the brands Wacoal, b.tempt'd, Elomi, Eveden, Fantasie, Freya, and Goddess. Its products are manufactured almost entirely by hand using Japanese sewing technology as well as continued innovation. Much of its production occurs at Wacoal Vietnam, a manufacturing location established in 1997.

In 2012, Wacoal acquired the Eveden Group, a UK-based lingerie manufacturer founded in 1920, bringing the full-figure brands Freya, Elomi, Fantasie, and Goddess under its corporate umbrella.
