Global athletic brand New Balance is growing its brick-and-mortar presence in India, with the opening of a new dedicated store in Surat, Gujarat. Located within the VR Surat shopping center, the store launched with an exciting in-store event to introduce the community to the brand’s latest offerings.
According to Radeshwer Davar, Country Manager, New Balance India, this opening underscores the brand’s commitment to broadening their footprint across India and connecting with local communities through sports and lifestyle.
The new store features some of the label’s most popular lines, including the 1080, Rebel, 9060, and the new M1000 series. Shoppers can explore products that showcase New Balance's proprietary running technologies, such as ‘Fresh Foam X’ and ‘FuelCell.’ For the inaugural showcase, guests had the chance to fully experience New Balance's newest collection, highlighting the brand’s signature blend of high performance and modern aesthetics.
New Balance’s journey in India has had its ups and downs. The brand initially entered the market in the early 2000s but later pulled back its operations. It successfully re-entered the country in 2016, according to a report by Indian Retailer. Today, the brand operates physical stores in several major Indian cities, including Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Headquartered in Boston, US, New Balance is an independent company, a status it has maintained since its founding in 1906. The global brand is a major player in the athletic wear market, reporting worldwide sales of $7.8 billion in 2024 and employing 10,000 people globally. The new Surat store marks a key moment in the company’s push to capture more of the growing Indian consumer market.
