Page Industries commits Rs 300 crore to expand domestic production

The exclusive Indian licensee for Jockey and Speedo, Page Industries is evaluating site acquisitions for a new greenfield manufacturing plant in India, targeting an initial capital commitment of up to Rs 300 crore. The facility aims to strengthen domestic production control, supplementing existing manufacturing footprint spread across Karnataka, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. Management confirms the investment forms a core pillar of the group's long-term operational roadmap to maintain around 64 per cent in-house production while enhancing supply chain responsiveness.

Navigating channel dynamics and premiumization demands

The expansion arrives as the innerwear and athleisure leader navigates changing retail channel economics. While general trade across 113,000 MBOs continues to generate substantial revenue, retail throughput in traditional channels faces growth normalization. In response, the enterprise is accelerating expansion across exclusive brand outlets - spanning over 1,550 stores - alongside quick-commerce and digital storefronts. Scaling localized manufacturing infrastructure ensures operational flexibility as market demand transitions toward premium product lines like athleisure and street-fashion collections, noted a senior industry executive. Despite macroeconomic pressures and labor restructuring costs impacting quarterly net profit margins, steady EBITDA performance near 21 per cent underscores underlying balance sheet strength.

Eyeing Rs 8,000 crore revenue in the long-term

Incorporated in 1994, Page Industries manufactures, markets, and distributes Jockey innerwear, athleisure, and Speedo swimwear across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, and the UAE. Operating 16 manufacturing units across 2.9 million sq ft, the enterprise reaches consumers through 113,000 MBOs and 1,550 EBOs. Operating with negligible debt, annual revenues exceed Rs 5,200 crore, backed by strong double-digit operating margins and targeted long-term revenue ambitions of Rs 8,000 crore.
