Designer Manish Malhotrais planning to more than double his chain of stores besides opening his first overseas shop.
The designer will open his first international brick-and-mortar outlet by early 2023 in the US, UK or the Middle East. In all, it plans to open six new stores in India and abroad. Currently, it has four retail sites across India.
His global ambitions have been fueled by the investment from Reliance Brand., part of billionaire MukeshAmbani’s conglomerate, which bought 40 per cent in the designer’s MM Styles in October.
Reliance will seek to create a strong technology collaboration for Malhotra’s brand and build it into a global couture powerhouse.
Besides pursuing his overseas expansion plans, Malhotra plans to create new product ranges, including jackets, shirts, shoes and bags,that can appeal to western consumers beyond the Indian diaspora.
He became a household name in India after styling actors for a string of successful Bollywood films and launched his closely-held fashion house in 2005.
