Actor Kamal Haasan has launched his ethnic wear fashion label House of Khaddar. The actor has collaborated with designer Amritha Ram for the collection. The newly launched product line will be available to customers from across the globe on the brand’s exclusive website.
The brand wants people to understand the concepts of inclusivity and fluidity since these are increasingly important conversations, given the current environment. As a designer, Amritha Ram has sustainability on her mind.
She feels it is a responsibility and that if we consume less, the world will become more sustainable. The greatest joy for her in putting together this collection is to be able to create a kind of fashion democracy.
The idea behind House of Khaddar which also includes a fragrance line, is to create a clothing that flaunts Khadi as a textile.
House of Khaddar aims at showcasing the fabric in a chic, cool and modern avatar that will appeal to the youth of the nation. The label also aims at uplifting and bettering the lives of handloom weavers in India. The fragrance line is inspired by the ancient use of scent in every religious ceremony or prayer.
Amritha Ram is an Indian fashion costume designer, television host and entrepreneur, who has worked on Tamil and Telugu language films.
