R Gandhi, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles says, the ministry has initiated measures to modernize Co-optex outlets and improve its business.
Gandhi informed sales at these outlets have declined from Rs 15 crore due to outbreak of COVID-19.
The ministry has formed a team to modernize these outlets and adopt new business techniques and designs.
It also plans to introduce export quality organic varieties, including ready-made garments for children that could be sold online.
Apart from textile parks at eight places, the ministry would also set up a mega textile park on 1,000 acre in Dharmapuri with 10,000 crore investment.
The park would help generate new jobs, Gandhi added.
