Biba

28 April 2026, Mumbai

As the Indian ethnic wear sector approaches a projected valuation of $123 billion in 2026, Biba Fashion is intensifying its physical presence with strategic store launches in Visakhapatnam and Gurgaon. The opening of new outlets at Inorbit Mall (Vizag) and Felix Plaza (Gurgaon) this April marks a decisive step in the brand’s 100-store expansion plan for the fiscal year.

These ‘high-velocity’ retail hubs are designed to integrate Biba’s advanced SAP-driven inventory systems with a localized product mix, catering specifically to the surging demand for "affordable premium" fashion. By positioning itself in Tier-II growth centers and prime NCR corridors, the brand is successfully defending its market share against an increasingly fragmented Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) landscape.

Design innovation targeting Gen Z and premium segments

To maintain competitive relevance, Biba recently introduced its sub-brand ‘Biba NXT,’ targeting Gen Z and early millennial with modern silhouettes such as halter-neck kurtas and corset-style tops. This design pivot aligns with a 50 per cent increase in demand for sustainable, breathable fabrics like high-quality cotton, which Biba utilizes to mitigate the impact of rising textile production costs. Siddharath Bindra, Managing Director, notes, regional growth engines remain central to the brand’s strategy, supported by a refined logistics network that minimizes stockouts.

With a net sales revenue rise of 2.02 per cent in 2025 and a return to profitability, Biba’s dual focus on everyday daywear and sophisticated occasion ranges provides a resilient revenue stream ahead of its highly anticipated 2026 IPO.
