India’s denim and casualwear retail segment, expanding at 8per cent to 9 per cent annually, is witnessing a structural shift as apparel brands capitalize on specialized factory outlet mall developments in suburban commercial hubs. Homegrown youth lifestyle major Spykar opened its tenth exclusive brand outlet of the current fiscal year at Bhumi World – Outlet Mall of India in Bhiwandi. Located along the high-traffic Mumbai-Nashik commercial corridor, the destination highlights a broader migration toward logistics-linked retail zones that leverage lower occupancy costs and capture price-conscious suburban consumers.
The factory outlet format allows denim manufacturers to manage inventory throughput effectively through a year-round discount framework without discounting full-price metro store lines. Housing comprehensive product categories - including core denim, casual outerwear, and accessories - within a single footprint drives higher basket sizes and improves store economics.
Establishing dedicated storefronts in specialized outlet hubs allows us to capture high-intent consumer traffic while maintaining healthy inventory turnover across our retail network, states Sanjay Vakharia, CEO, Spykar. The brand is advancing toward a total footprint of 380 exclusive stores nationwide.
Targeting franchise-led expansion
Founded in Mumbai in 1992, Spykar manufactures youth denim, casual apparel, and fashion accessories. Operating across 2,200 distribution points nationwide and generating annual revenues between Rs 500 crore and Rs 1,000 crore, the company targets 380 EBOs through franchise-led expansion.
