The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) in Pune to collaborate, coordinate and cooperate between the two leading institutions in the garment industry.

This marks the first time that a national trade body has partnered with an educational institution in the garment industry.

The MOU was signed by CMAI's President Rajesh Masand and SOFT's Chairman Ravindra Deo in the presence of other representatives from both institutions. The move is expected to strengthen the link between industry and academic institutes and benefit both the industry and students.

School of Fashion Technology (SOFT), which has 800 students enrolled is a part of Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSS) which currently runs 68 institutes, of which 53 are educational institutes, with a total of 34,000 students.
