TechnoSport to set up Rs 100-crore activewear production facility in Odisha

In a significant development for Odisha's industrial landscape, India’s rapidly expanding activewear brand, TechnoSport signed an MoU with the Government of Odisha during the Odisha-Tex 2025 event. Formalized in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, this landmark agreement outlines TechnoSport's commitment to invest Rs 100 crore  over the next three years to establish a cutting-edge activewear manufacturing facility in the state.

This ambitious project is set to create over 1,000 direct jobs, significantly contributing to Odisha's goals for industrial growth and inclusive development. TechnoSport’s new factory will be located within a world-class industrial estate featuring plug-and-play infrastructure. This larger estate is projected to generate over 20,000 direct jobs, enable exports exceeding $100 million, and bring in over Rs 7,000 crore in domestic revenues.

Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-Founder & Managing Director,  TechnoSport, emphasizes, more than just a factory this investment in Odisha is a blueprint for the future of Indian manufacturing. As demand for high-performance, affordable activewear accelerates, the company builds the infrastructure, talent, and ecosystem needed to lead that charge. Odisha offers the perfect confluence of skilled workforce, supportive governance, and scalable industrial vision.”

Currently holding a 10 per cent share in India’s value activewear segment, TechnoSport chose Odisha due to its abundant skilled labor, particularly in apparel manufacturing, coupled with proactive, industry-friendly policies and transparent governance. The brand's recent trade show, Techno Samavesh 2025, also highlighted Odisha as a crucial growth market.

Beyond direct employment, the new facility will incorporate a training center in partnership with a local university, offering technical education and upskilling opportunities. The ‘Smart Factory’ will feature semi-automation and robust traceability, operate on renewable energy, aim for over 80 per cent women in its workforce, and send all fabric waste for closed-loop recycling.

This project represents a mutually beneficial partnership, fostering skill development, employment, and economic growth for both Odisha and TechnoSport. As the brand continues its rapid expansion with new exclusive brand outlets, enhanced manufacturing capacity in Odisha becomes critical to its long-term strategy.
