Gioia has gone offline. The luxury handbag label has opened a store at Kolkata. The brand plans to further expand its retail presence by opening a store in Mumbai. The reason for going offline is that some people still want to be able to touch and feel the leather goods before they are confident about the quality and craftsmanship of the product and then make a purchase.
Founded in 2020, Gioia is backed by one of the largest leather goods export houses in India, D2, and sells its handbags and accessories through its website.
Gioia means joy in Italian. Right from the curation of materials to the designs, the collections are designed to last. D2 is an export house based in Kolkata engaged in the manufacture and export of high fashion leather bags and accessories for men and women.
As a technology associate of BLC Leather Technology Institute, UK, the company follows stringent product quality parameters at par with international standards. An in-line quality control manager monitors all assembly lines.
The company also has overseas designers based in France and in the UK constantly helping to stay up to date. Its R&D team works alongside the designers to develop new products. The company also participates in major international leather fairs.
