The garment business in the United States is still booming; imports totaled $8.33 billion in October of this year

Encouraged by robust demand for apparel in the second half of 2021, the United States has continued to import more apparel than it did in 2020 and 2019. In October of this year, the United States imported $8.33 billion in clothes, a 20.40 percent increase over the same month in 2020 and a 20.55 percent increase over 2019.
Because increased demand and port bottlenecks are putting a lot of pressure on supply chains, retailers are opting for early imports during this Christmas season, the October to December quarter of 2021 is expected to outperform Q4'20 and Q4'19.
As a result, the most recent data from OTEXA backs up the early import forecasts. For the first time in the last three years, the value of garment imports into the United States exceeded $8 billion for three months in a row — August, September, and October. In August of this year, the country imported $8.07 billion in clothing, followed by $8.15 billion the following month. Keep an eye out for country-specific statistics.
