Revenge shopping will help homegrown footwear and apparel brand Woodland to grow over 20 percent and claw back to the pre-pandemic levels with a top line of over Rs 1,200 crore this fiscal, says Harikirat Singh, Promoter and Managing Director.

The New Delhi-based company -- which entered the country 25 years ago, is the market leader in the category, selling over 5 million pairs annually.

Owned by Aero Club, the privately-held Woodland closed FY22 with Rs 1,000 crore in revenues. The company sells its footwear mostly in premium athleisure range for outdoors, accessories -- including apparel and deos and men's personal wears through Woodland, and super-premium Wood labels through 500 company-owned-and-company operated exclusive stores and over 5,000 multibrand retailers.

Almost 50 percent of the sales come from these exclusive stores, 20-25 percent from exports primarily to the UAE and other MENA markets, South Africa, Russia, and Canada' and the rest from other retailers, Singh said.

Before the pandemic, the company had 600 exclusive stores. It plans to add 20-25 stores this year.

Designer Masaba Gupta’s fashion and lifestyle brand House of Masaba organized a pop-up event in Nairobi, Kenya on May 14, 2022, in collaboration with Promoters Fashlore and Ranee Production.

The pop-up was organized to showcase House of Masaba’s spring/summer 2022 collection.

The event featured a wide array of the brand’s fusion and occasion wear including lehengas, matching sets, and more casual pieces.

Before the pandemic, the brand House of Masaba held several pop-ups in the US, Thailand, and Indonesia among other locations.

In March this year, the brand held a pop-up shop in Dubai to mark its return to international shopping events.

House of Masaba also launched its ‘Sanctuary ‘22’ collection of ‘luxe resort wear’.

The collection features brightly colored and printed cape sets in reds and mustard yellows with delicate and floral details.

This summer, House of Masaba launched a dedicated beauty and wellness range. Gupta also plans to launch the second season of her semi-autobiographical series on Netflix India.

Gokaldas Exports is optimistic about the order book for FY23. The company continues to see growth opportunities, despite the expected uncertainty from a combination of headwinds and tailwinds.

For the January-March quarter (Q4FY22), Gokaldas Exports had reported the best quarterly performance driven by a growing order book and ability to weather supply chain disruptions.

The company’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) more-than-doubled to Rs 61 crore in Q4FY22 as against Rs 16 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Its consolidated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) margin improved 170 bps QoQ and 365 bps YoY to 13.1 percent on account of positive operating leverage.

Revenue grew 58 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 588 crore, which was the highest quarterly revenue, as against Rs 373 crore in Q4FY21. Export revenue increased by 58.3 percent YoY. Deep engagement with key customers and augmentation of capacity enabled strong revenue growth, the company said.

The primary drivers of growth were robust capacity expansion and a rapid ramp-up of production. Increased volume, better product mix, and improved operational efficiency all contributed to a growing operating profit. The year's performance reflects a growing order book and the company's ability to weather production and supply chain disruptions, it added.

For the entire financial year 2021-22 (FY22), consolidated profit after tax (PAT) jumped 342 percent YoY at Rs 117 crore, while operational revenue grew 47.9 percent YoY at Rs 1,790 crore. Ebitda's margin expanded 270 bps to 12 percent from 9.3 percent in FY21.
