KVIC gets CISF order for khadi durries

20 December 2021, Mumbai:

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission will supply the Central Industrial Security Force khadi cotton durries worth Rs 4 crores. With this order, KVIC has received orders worth Rs 14 crores from the paramilitary forces for its products.

Earlier this year, KVIC had signed an MoU with the armed forces for an annual supply of its khadi products as part of the Self-Reliant India initiative. These bulk orders for khadi products are expected to not only encourage the use of swadeshi products in India’s forces but also create large-scale additional employment for khadi artisans.

KVIC has been receiving numerous orders for the khadi fabric from American clothing brand Patagonia, which recently ordered 30,000 meters of khadi denim fabric for use in its ethical clothing line.

Patagonia carried out a strict assessment of various aspects of manufacturing khadi denim such as spinning, weaving, carding, dyeing, wage payments, age verification of workers etc., at a khadi making institution through a global third-party assessor before placing the order.

KVIC is an apex organization under the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises. Be it design or fashion, it’s trying to present a new and refurbished image of khadi. KVIC retails a range of khadi products as well as locally made personal care goods and other items at its brick-and-mortar stores and online.
