Samantas showcases latest collection at 'Bangalore show'

10 December 2021, Mumbai:

Designer Arpana Samanta’s brand Samantas showcased its latest men’s wear and women’s wear collection in Bangalore as part of the Indian Designer League 2021. The collection celebrated Odisha’s textile heritage. A total of 36 models walked the runway to launch Samantas’ latest collection of bright handloom traditional and fusion wear.

The collection featured a wide range of textiles from the designer’s home of Orissa with the aim of celebrating the region’s textile heritage. In line with the Vocal for Local campaign to buy domestic-made products and support local businesses, Samantas worked with weavers in Orissa to create the collection.

The designer also aims to use the collection to help create sustainable employment for Orissa’s artisans. This season, the focus was on Bomkai cotton, Khandua Paata, and Kotpad cotton textiles, which were used to create bright and bold suits and sherwanis for men and lehengas and dresses for women.

With 36 professional models walking for her collections, Arpana Samanta showcased indo-western outfits for both men and women.

Samantas is Orissa’s indigenous luxury handloom brand. Samantas takes pride in being one of the first luxury brands to collaborate with the LGBTQ community in showcasing its designs.

Samantas’ vision is to always support craftsmen and weavers in large numbers by economically empowering them and providing sustainable employment.
