Anita Dongre believes the epidemic has strengthened her dedication to bridal clothing

11 February 2022, Mumbai:
Despite the obstacles of the epidemic, designer Anita Dongre has increased her focus on bridal wear and altered her hallmark designs for brides searching for more flexible items.
Dongre has introduced her most adaptable wedding wear collection yet in an effort to encourage sustainable design, and she is certain that bridal wear will continue to thrive as a product category. Dongre told Elle India, "I think the epidemic has reminded me what a delight the celebration of a wedding is."
"Weddings have gotten more intimate and thought out with everyone involved over the previous two years," Dongre added. "Even in the darkest of times, couples would dress up in their wedding attire and have photos shot of their unique occasion accompanied by only their parents—the garments were important and symbolized a particular relationship."
Every wedding is a celebration of love and optimism for the future; I believe the epidemic has further reinforced this for me and reminded me of why the job we do is so important." Dongre's eponymous label just published the 'Paradise Found' wedding and event dress collection for spring/summer 2022.
The vividly patterned but easy-to-wear lehengas illustrate the designer's modern approach to bridal wear, with pieces that are adaptable and re-wearable and ideal for large or small scale celebrations.

"These days' brides are savvy—they know precisely what they want and care about the charities that their purchases benefit," said Dogre, whose businesses are recognised for their environmentally friendly practices.

"I always advise choosing things that you will like wearing and will re-wear. Choose outfits that truly reflect your individuality and allow you to divide apart the parts to meet your schedule.

It's a big step toward sustainability to be able to re-wear your bridal gowns instead of storing them in a box.""

Nextail CEOs report: Fashion businesses making more conservative hires as they look to secure a digital future

11 February 2022, Mumbai:

Fashion companies chose to hire CEOs with deep sector knowledge and leadership experience in 2021, as they sought to create a strong platform for growth and digital transformation.

Fashion’s Newest CEOs, the annual report, published with an eye to what to expect in 2022, analyzes all the major hires in the sector. It highlights the broadly conservative choices businesses have made when changing leadership in 2021.

Furthermore, the appointments have been predominantly male and have, in the majority of cases, operational experience, as opposed to design or marketing.

Says Joaquín Villalba, Chief Executive of Nextail, which produces the report: “If an incoming CEO already has a depth of knowledge and experience, they can sort the basics out quickly before moving on to the rest of the business.

With omnichannel, the new normal, and there being a pressing need to improve systems to reduce waste, companies need to evaluate their use of data and bring the digital into the heart of their operations.” Interestingly, the luxury market was particularly active in bringing in new CEOs, with an 80% YoY growth in appointments and accounting for close to 20% of the total.

The most notable aspects are the replacement of two of the most long-serving leaders - Andrea Panconesi at LuisaViaRoma and Alain Wertheimer at Chanel - as well as the new arrivals at sector leaders Burberry and Michael Kors, and Capri Holdings.

We'll get back to you with further information as soon as possible." It's worth noting that i-SMART technology is credited with upsetting the present sewing machine operators' evaluation system, which is mostly based on quality and output rate.

The STITCH for RMG is notable for driving innovations to better the livelihoods of women workers in Bangladesh's ready-made garments sector and improve factory performance.

Designers come out in favor of a united FDCI-Lakme fashion week

10 February 2022, Mumbai:

A number of designers have expressed their support for the continuation of this collaborative, multi-media format as the upcoming combined edition of FDCI and Lakmé Fashion Week approaches.

Due to the continuing epidemic and the reaction to the last iteration, the Fashion Design Council of India stated on its Facebook page that the forthcoming edition of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week would once again involve a combination of online and offline activities.

Several designers slated to participate in the fashion week were contacted by the fashion industry organization to inquire how they felt about the combined format.

"Having a single fashion week is a fantastic concept, especially when two great businesses come together and pool their resources for the benefit of everyone in the industry," said designer Manoviraj Khosla. "When you have strengths like FDCI and Lakmé Fashion Week coming together, it becomes a superpower," designer Kunal Rawal remarked.

The founder’s daughters Fabiana and Federica Balestra are at the head of the historical fashion house, while his granddaughter Sofia Bertolli Balestra is steering research, design and brand identity.
