Textile Staples Market

The global textile staples market as per different trade estimates is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2022 to 2032, driven by increasing demand from end-use industries such as apparel, general and leisure, sportswear, interior flooring, and other.
As per Future Market Insights (FMI) report," A Great Showing expected out of The Textile Staples Market expected to Clock Total Revenue of US$ 275.48 Bn by the year 2032".
The use of natural staple fibers, such as cotton, jute, and wool, is expected to increase due to the demand for eco-friendly textiles, while synthetic fibers, such as polyester, are being produced in a sustainable manner.

The apparel segment is expected to contribute 50% of total sales, while the interior flooring segment is expected to experience the fastest growth. Asia Pacific excluding Japan is expected to be the leading region.

The growth of the market is also driven by increased investment in the textile sector and rising demand for sustainable textile materials. Prominent manufacturers are expanding their presence globally by setting up manufacturing units in emerging economies.

SIMA: Lauds MoT decision on VSF quality Control Order

30 January 2023, Mumbai

BIS certification for Viscose Staple Fibre to avoid any disruption in their operations. The Ministry of Textiles has extended the time limit for obtaining the BIS quality certification to 90 days and has directed the BIS to expedite the processing formalities to issue the certification.
Ravi Sam, Chairman, The Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA) has thanked the Minister of Textiles for this extension and has advised all suppliers and manufacturers to take the necessary steps to obtain the BIS certification and, in particular to H'ble Piyush Goyal for convening the multi-stakeholders meeting of VSF held last week dated 27 th January 2023, deliberating, outlining & stressing the critical need for extension of time limit for VSF QCO and the on-ground practicalities & challenges faced by the VSF value chain nationwide.

Arvind appoints finance head

Leading textile manufacturer Arvind offers the widest array of fashion brands in India. The bouquet of brands – both homegrown and global – straddles lifestyles, categories and price points. International fashion brands wanting to enter India are keen to partner with Arvind.

For the second quarter Arvind’s consolidated net profit rose by 79 per cent. Revenue from operations was up two per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.Profit After Tax from continuing business and before the exceptional item was Rs 85 crores. Accounting for one-time items, PAT was Rs 125 crores. Arvind had a gain of Rs 40.52 crores from exceptional items, which includes profit on the sale of a subsidiary and provision from the value of land in Gujarat. Total expenses were up three per cent. Revenue from textiles was up one per cent. Overall textile revenues grew by three per cent as woven and knits volumes held steady. Higher price realisation helped hold unit margins.

SIYARAM’S CUP: An Inter-State level Blind Cricket Cup

Siyaram’s, a leading textile brand in India, has been collaborating with Blind Welfare Organization for 9 years to host an annual inter-state blind cricket tournament called "Siyaram’s Cup".

Siyaram's’ Ramesh Poddar-Chairman & MD on this momentous occasion was very excited and mentioned, “Unfortunately, in our nation, there are uncountable numbers of visually challenged persons who go way beyond their boundaries to follow their passions creating limitless opportunities not only for cricket but definitively also in their personal lives.

The tournament was held in Mumbai from 11th to 13th January 2023, with 8 teams from different states across India participating.

The tournament ended with the Gujarat team winning and the Maharashtra team being the runner-up.

Blind cricket is a modified version of cricket adapted for visually challenged players, with rules similar to regular cricket but with some differences, such as the ball filled with ball bearings, 10-inch wide stumps, and the use of the sweep shot. The event was a showcase of the passion and determination of visually challenged players to overcome limitations and achieve success.

Raymond records huge revenue surge, to open more stores

This wedding season Raymond recorded its highest ever growth in revenue. The company witnessed a sharp turnaround in sales due to higher consumer spending in its stores following the Covid pandemic.

Sales were up by 38 per cent from the same time compared to 2019. Around 3.2 million weddings were hosted in November 2022 and December 2022, which would have generated a whopping business overall for sectors including clothing retail.

Raymond is known for its suits and textiles and has 1400 clothing showrooms across the country.Textiles and clothing are a major source of revenue for the company, contributing to 50 per cent of the revenue of the company.In the coming months, Raymond aims to open more stores in smaller towns to cash in on rising consumer spending, while broadening its clothing lines to include more traditional Indian garments -- often popular during Hindu wedding rituals.

Raymond, a wool mill near Mumbai set up in 1925, originally supplied blankets to armed forces in the country.The brand known for its textile business has also diversified its business in consumer products ranging from shaving creams to condoms and also in technology such as auto parts. Raymond also runs a real estate business selling apartments on the outskirts of Mumbai.

MTMM fair next week

03 January 2023, Mumbai

Mumbai Textile Merchants Mahajan (MTMM) will be held on January 9 and 10, 2023.

This Mumbai fabric fair will have more than 200 stalls, spread over 35,000 sq ft. It will display a large collection of fabrics for summer wear, ethnic wear, bridal wear, school uniforms etc. It will also cater to the demand for Ramzan as Id is earlier this time.

The B2B fabric fair will remain open free of cost to traders, garment manufacturers, retailers, fashion designers, agents, importers - exporters, brokers, tailors, boutiques, fashion forecasters and fashion institutes. A large number of traders from outstation are expected to visit the fair. A footfall of more than 10,000 trade visitors is expected during the two days of the fair. Leading brands of India will be participating in the fair.

The fabrics on display at the fair will include a wide range of fabrics for formals, casuals, ethnic wear, handloom, linen, pure cotton, silk, Banarasi fabric, modal, bamboo and tencel, embroidered fabric, dyed/ dyeable fabric, digital, block screen prints, chidren’s wear, shirting, suiting, kurta-kurti fabric, dress materials, dhoti and sari, unstitched dress materials, interlining, imported fabric and a broad range of value added fabrics. The Mahajan plans to organize such a fair every year.

The ninth edition of Techtextil India is being held on 12 – 14 September 2023 in Mumbai.

India-Australia Trade Pact: Catalyst for textile growth

12 January 2023, Mumbai

Sanjay Garg, President of NITMA, expressed his gratitude to the Honorable PM Narendra Modi and Honorable Minister for Commerce & Industry & Textiles Shri Piyush Goyal Ji for the historic accomplishment.

The Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement between India and Australia, which came into effect on December 29, 2022. The two nations' business relations as well as the full range of goods and services are set to profit from this agreement, which is the first trade agreement between India and a developed nation in recent memory.

According to Garg, the trade agreements with the UAE and Mauritius have already begun to provide better results, while the agreement with Australia will give various Indian textile products, particularly ready-to-wear clothing and home textiles, zero-duty market access.

According to the president of NITMA, the removal of the 10% tariff barrier for exporting to Australia as well as the 11.0% import charge on cotton will increase India's textile and apparel industry's competitiveness in the world market. In a space of five to six years, he thought that expeditious FTA discussions with Canada, the United Kingdom, and a few other nations would allow India to reach its target exports of USD 100 billion and the USD 350 billion total market size for textiles.

Garg also stated that the treaty would tremendously benefit to bridge the trade deficit of roughly USD 8.5 billion with Australia.
