Results of the 16 th ITMF Global Textile Industry Survey.

A positive sign for the future is that global expectations have stopped falling in September 2022, albeit staying in negative territory and therefore indicating difficult times ahead.

The 16th ITMF Global Textile Industry Survey (GTIS, formerly known as ITMF Corona-Survey)
shows deteriorating business situation and expectations in the global textile industry in
September 2022. The indicators for order intake, order backlog, and capacity utilization rate
also fell, globally.

Business situations and expectations have turned negative.

Weakening demand, high raw material prices, high energy prices, and inflation are the four major concerns of the global textile industry for the next 6 months.

Smriti Zubin Irani: Felicitation function for her on 16th Oct

14 October 2022, Mumbai:

The textile industry Associations have organized a felicitation function for Mrs.Smriti Zubin Irani, the Hon’ble Union Minister for Women & Child Development and  Minority Affairs, for her contribution to the textile industry on 16th October 2022 at Senator Hall, The Residency Towers, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore at 12.50 pm.

She was Minister for Textiles from July 2016 to July 2021. She is India’s youngest Union Cabinet Minister in the Government and the first woman to hold office as Minister for Education and as Minister of Textiles.

MCX: T Rajkumar elected as Chairman of PAC

12 October 2022, Mumbai:

MCX elects T Rajkumar as Chairman of the Cotton Product Advisory Committee (PAC) and was unanimously elected as the Chairman of Committee.

MCX had planned to expand the Cotton Product Advisory Committee to include more representation from value chain participants including the textile industry.

While seeking wholehearted cooperation and support from the committee members, T Rajkumar as chairman of PAC, said that most of the contract specifications have been modified to curb speculation and protect the interests of the entire cotton value chain including the farmers.

He further thanked Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Piyush Goyal, Secretary of Textiles, U.P. Singh, and Textile Commissioner Smt. Roop Rashi for the continued support and for holding multiple stakeholder consultations.

He is hopeful that proactive initiatives of TAG will go a long way to make India - the true cotton clothier of the globe, also elaborated on the proposed path to be taken to address the various issues of the cotton value chain that would ensure a win-win situation for all the stakeholders across the cotton textile value chain.
