The final day of Texworld NYC, Apparel Sourcing NYC, and Home Textiles Sourcing opened with Exhibitor Highlights by Vishal Enterprises Inc., Inspectorio Inc., and V. Mora.

Visitors were given an introduction to the companies' business models and backgrounds and then invited to a more in-depth review of their products at their booth locations on the show floor.

This edition featured a new opportunity for footwear component sourcing in partnership with Material Exchange and Footwear Distributors & Retailers Association. Material Exchange gave visitors a demonstration on how to build and digitize your materials libraries in a Global Footwear Sourcing Talk.

Conversations at today's Lenzing Seminar Series featured the societal shift towards environmental concerns, especially of the younger generations, who are the largest market for sustainable and ethical home design and solutions.

The Summer 2022 Edition closed out the show with thousands of in-person attendees. Texworld NYC, Apparel Sourcing NYC, and Home Textiles Sourcing also had a record number of country pavilions present, adding further value to attendees visiting the event.

The textiles and clothing industry exported merchandise worth around US$ 44.4 billion during the year 2021-22, accounting for around 10% of the total exports, and has been gearing itself to boost exports by taking advantage of the numerous policy initiatives by the Government during the last two years.

The textile industry has been facing challenges on account of the volatility in the forex rates especially the US dollar rates. The Rupee has depreciated to a record level in recent days.

In a press release issued here today, Mr. Ravi Sam, Chairman, The Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) welcomed the RBI announcement of the international trade settlement in Indian Rupees (INR) and stated that proactive initiative by the Government has given a sigh of relief to the Indian exporters and importers, who have been facing challenges owing to the tightening of monetary policies all over the world.

He has said that the policy would encourage the countries having substantial trade with India and having forex shortages to increase their trade with India thereby throwing more opportunities to boost the exports apart from helping India to reduce its trade deficits on account of oil imports.

SIMA Chairman has stated that though the real benefit could be reaped only after a considerable time, in the long run, this would encourage several countries intending to trade in INR to opt for such trade and thereby make INR become yet another international currency for international trade.

The objective critical issues faced by Italy as a whole throughout the course of 2021, primarily dictated by a pandemic that upset any and all pre-existing equilibriums, have not slowed or halted the Italian textile machinery sector.

Indeed, data presented during the annual assembly of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, held on 1 July proved decidedly positive, showing that in 2021 the sector recovered significantly compared to 2020, to the point of returning to pre-Covid levels.

Specifically, Italian textile machinery production amounted to 2.388 billion euros (+35% over 2020 and + 5% over 2019), with total exports amounting to 2.031 billion euros (+37% over 2020 and +9% over 2019).

However, these results do not cancel the obstacles that companies are still facing.

Looking to the near future, expectations are for a rather uncertain outlook, as underscored by ACIMIT President Alessandro Zucchi: “2022 remains a year replete with unknown factors, starting with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, along with the persistence of the pandemic, which seriously risks delaying expected growth consolidation for businesses in the sector.

Difficulties in finding raw materials and components negatively affect the completion and fulfillment of orders processed as far back as 2021.

To boot, rising energy costs and inflationary trends affecting numerous commodities are depressing overall business confidence. So the outlook for the sector is not so good.”.

Recycle Textile Federation formed, plans to unite mills across nation.

More than 200 small mills involved in recycling cotton waste into yarn and fabrics across Tamil Nadu have come together and formed a recycle textile federation.

"Creating awareness among our members on the markets where our products and services have demand is our top focus," said president of Recycle Textile Federation Jayabal in a statement on Sunday.

Headquartered in Coimbatore, the federation presently has 230 members representing various mills from Tamil Nadu, he said.

The fedeartion has plans to bring together such mills across the country to collectively address the needs of the industry, identify markets in different parts of the world, and direct its members to cater to places that need their products and services, Jayabal said.
